The founders of Ottawa Bible Church chose I Timothy 3:1-13 as the pattern for organization.  New Testament churches were under the oversight of  Elders and Deacons.

         Senior Pastor Dakota Smith is coming in January!

Dakota Smith, his wife Shannon and children Selah, Josiah and Hosanna have accepted the call to shepherd Ottawa Bible Church!  The Smiths currently live in Gilbert, AZ where he has been the Young Families and College Pastor for Mesa Baptist Church and the Bible Department Chair at Gilbert Christian High School.  Dakota will be visiting Ottawa a few times before they move and is scheduled to preach on October 13 and November 17.  Come and welcome the Smiths to Ottawa!

Current Pastor: Fred Martin

Married to his wife, Rhoda, on August 15, 1970, Fred is a long time resident of Franklin County, Kansas, having attended school in Princeton, Kansas before graduating from Ottawa High School in 1966 and Kansas State University in 1970.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Industry.  Fred and Rhoda have four adult children and three grandchildren.

Fred and Rhoda began attending Ottawa Bible Church in the fall of 1977.  Fred was appointed an Elder at Ottawa Bible Church in 1986 and was hired as Youth Pastor in 1997.  Fred was made Associate Pastor in 2015 and continues with Youth Pastor duties and is presently preaching on Sunday mornings during our search for a Senior Pastor.

The responsibilities of Church Elders are to maintain personal spiritual maturity, to maintain a blameless reputation in the community, practice godliness at home and be responsible for the spiritual and general oversight of the church.

Deacons, as in Acts 6:1-7, are to be spiritually mature men, who have the financial oversight of the church.
